My dad chanced upon a video of a family vacation to the Grace villa in Leisure Farm that was taken about 5 years ago and he asked me to switch it on so I could see how fat I looked last time. What I saw was more than those excess fatty acids hanging out from my stomach and arms and around my face, what I saw was a family intact, full of youth and with age old experience thrown in. What I saw was a family without squabbles, disputes and other problems. What I saw was a family that I miss so much.
Gatherings used to be attended by everyone. By people way out from the east to the near ones in the west. No one was left behind. Ohana was at its strongest a few years back. Things were great. Us cousins will sneak out, buy ice kacang, chill and smoke a cig or two without a care in the world what the future has in store for us. They say you get more mature, rational and logical when you get older. But I don't see us cousins fighting. It's the adults who are at fault.
I don't really give a shit on all this. Ive heard from both sides of the story and yes both of them are at fault but you have trained and instilled in all of us since young the meaning of Forgive and Forget. Why not practice what you preach?
I miss my cousins. I miss the times when we are together, talking, laughing, munching, smoking or whatever that we do. The whole gang. Kak cha, Abg mamat, yan, ikin, eqa, me, faris, hadi, izdi. When can we relive the glory days of the past...
