Faith's unbreakable pillars of strength.

For some reason I had a sudden urge to do something religious. So I accompanied my mother for a Maulud Nabi. Its a religious talk/sermon/prayer thingy that Them Big Uztaz of Singapore would hold around once or twice a month. It was astonishing to see the sheer amount of people present even though it was right at the eastern end of Singapore. The number of people I am not too sure with but they filled up 1 and a half of those gigantic Singapore Expo foyers. So you get my picture now?

Initially I thought that it would be quite serious and heavy but in the end it turned out to be very light hearted yet still serious stuff. Uztaz are not called Uztaz for fun and the Uztazes who gave the talk really knew their stuff. With their mix of humour, religious advice, prayers...they really mesmerized me time and again. Sitting there for hours seemed like nothing. Even though I didn't understand half of what they talk about sometimes (due to my atrocious Malay) and maybe sometimes just laughed along with the crowd when I do not understand the joke it still seemed very special to be one of the people attending it.
Especially the prayer.

Prayer. Or Doa. Words of Allah in mesmerizing, beautiful, awe inspiring Arabic poems sang or recited or chanted in voices so nice that it brings calm, peace and tranquility to the soul of the individual who heard it.

They, the Uztaz and Uztazahs of Singapore are Islam's unbreakable people. Who are the bright light during these dark times for the religion (ie, terrorism, Bush, mats and minahs).

On a much lighter and personal post, I went around Suntec with my parents and 2 aunties (IN BAJU KURUNG!) to go to some airline exhibition. It turned out to be a complete waste of time but thank's to Mamee's (one of my aunt. We call her Mamee for some unknown reason) shopping instincts, we were dragged into a Branded Goods Clearence Sale 90% discount exhibition. I bought, or rather, begged myself 2 pairs of long sleeved tees (one orange and one green), a pair of sport shorts and Mamee blanje-ed me a pair of sport boxers. We then proceeded to Secret Recipe for luninner (lunch + dinner) which was paid fully by Ate (my other aunt who we call Ate for some unknown reason).

It was a great day for me but then I really miss my...u know who la. I seriously don't want to be slapped by carol and especially LANCE. =D
