Usually one thinks or describes a 'matrep' (derived from 'mat merepek' i guess), one would
picture those malay oriented hooligans, dressed in out-of-this-world fashion and colour combination clothing, sport gelled stiff dyed hair, tattoo-ed (those cheap chinese ink tattoos) and
with their many ornaments and accessories (nowdays its the jade necklace).

Their accent, slang and language is whats most humorous and ludicrous about them.

Taking the Bahasa Melayu, dissecting it (or rather, chopping it up unevenly)
add abit of broken English here and there.
and some hokkien and mandarin to taste.

There you go.

But the funny thing is, when we (us normal people) make fun of their so called language, i will
usually think that we exaggerate it till the point of it being entirely, ludicrous.

Oh but these bunch of...normal looking Malay and may i say it again Malay jokers proved me oh so wrong.

I was at my block's mama shop when they came.

mat 1: Siape2 nak air ambek je. Nanti abg bod blanje. on the house!

YAY!

mat 2: Knape abg bod?

mat 1: knape abg bod? Ko nak tau?? Sebab aku abg body! (padehal, he was skinny as a stick)

mat 3: Korang mau tau sape tu abg bod, abg bod tu...abg aku!

mat 1: itulah member.

(and then they kept talking in that ridiculous slang, which i purposely tuned myself out from, just to stop me from bursting out loud in laughter)

Im not trying to say that I am so much better or better off than them just because I dont speak like the way they do. I have even accepted the fact that my Malay language is very suspect...aka koyak la.

But for goodness' sake.....i have nothing else to say.
You make your own conclusions =).

I wrote this post out of boredom, lack of ideas, an oncoming headache, and injured left foot and for the sake of my loyal silent and non silent readers (whoever you guys are, i love you).

and maybe some random pics to colour up this blog?
